Dark corners - am post

Oh my god! Not those Portuguese reporters again!

Last week: Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the EuroGroup and Prime-Minister of Luxembourg, addresses the press after the last aid package to Greece, saying that "more than a year ago, we took the decision that conditions applied to one country should be applied to all. This matter is going to be dealt with in our next meeting".

3rd of December (the next meeting he was speaking about): Jean-Claude Juncker again. "I am not under the impression that the EuroGroup can apply the same conditions (of Greece) to other countries (meaning Portugal and Ireland)".

Justification of Jean-Claude Juncker for this apparent contradiction: "I was surprised by Portuguese reporters in a dark corner and in uncomfortable circumstances. I didn't quite understand the question."

Conclusion: Besides unveiling a little bit what can happen in dark corners at European press conferences, I am still trying to understand the underlying logic of this policy statement. Let me have a go. Basically it means that to be saved from falling in the same hole Greece is in, you have to be in the same hole Greece is in. Amazing logic.
